MTONI MARINE IN ZANZIBAR
Spectacular sunsets over the Indian Ocean, the accessible attractions of Stone Town with the Mtoni Palace close by, birthplace of Princess Salme and the wonderful old-world charm of Zanzibar will mesmerize you on your seashore vacation in East Africa. While on your stay at the Mtoni Marine, a budget accommodation, you will find that its western location is less than 10 minutes’ (around 5 km – 3 miles) drive to the bustling hub of Stone Town. It is also well-suited for frugal families looking for a no-frills stay with access to two swimming pools, one of which is adapted for kids to frolic in while their parents sunbathe on comfortable loungers keeping a careful eye on them. The resort also has a simple spa, the Mrembo, where you can avail of traditional massages and other modest pampering services. According to the number of guests in your group traveling to Zanzibar with AfricanMecca, you could choose from the 46 rooms the resort offers. The Family House and the Family Apartments can each accommodate five and four guests, respectively. Every one of them has two bedrooms with attached bathrooms, a living area and kitchenette equipped with a small fridge and kettle for making hot drinks. They also have the Palm Court Rooms that are suited for budget couples, and the Club Rooms are recommended to budget solo guests. The rooms come with air-conditioning and have a TV and safe deposit box for valuables. The hotel includes a formal diner, Mtoni Main Restaurant, which serves varied cuisine and an informal cafe, the Zanzibar Sports Cafe. Both restaurants serve wholesome meals while the Splash Bar beside the pool serves drinks primarily. During your stay at Mtoni Marine, enjoy every moment of your authentic sightseeing holiday in this part of Tanzania, wandering through the narrow streets of Stone Town, checking out the tiny stores selling you lovely hand-crafted souvenirs. Stop by lunch at a local restaurant to sample delicious seafood, cooked on the spot, fragrant with the spices that grow on the island. You can also view the elegant buildings from Zanzibar's heritage and listen in awe as your expert guide tells you the stories behind each. Stop over at the spice and fruit farms, and with the guidance of your harvester, pick interesting-looking seasonings off the trees. Sample them even as you learn about the many uses of the spices, aside from flavoring food. Learn the names of the diverse fruit such as durians, custard apples, fenesi and many more. Spend time on your exploration tour of Zanzibar aboard one of the custom-built fishing boats that take you out to the varied deep ocean chosen sites where you could try angling some of the stalwarts of the Indian Ocean like swordfish, marlins, wahoo, tuna and kingfish to name a few. Back on shore, go for a primate viewing expedition with an AfricanMecca guide to the Jozani Forest located in the center of the island. Absorb their surrounding habitat and listen to your experienced guide talk about their feeding, grooming and other behaviors. You could also view the incredible varieties of flora the forest hosts along with its smaller denizens, from amphibians like frogs to lizard reptiles, birds and many more. Add scuba diving and snorkeling to your aquatic trip in Zanzibar by visiting the surrounding coral reefs around Stone Town or even better down at Mnemba Atoll, off the coast at Matemwe Beach in the northeast of the island. Revel in the sight of the coral gardens and the breathtaking marine fauna they support.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

I booked my safari holiday through AfricanMecca. They were the most helpful company I have ever dealt with and I work within the travel industry. I had the most amazing time. The holiday went as clockwork with no hitches anywhere.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.
Denise Paterson - Belmont, Australia
Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
