MARU MARU HOTEL IN STONE TOWN ZANZIBAR
A UNESCO World Heritage site, Stone Town is the capital of Zanzibar. It has a lovely, quaint charm about it and retains all of the traditional reminiscent of the people of different cultures that have passed through it. Maru Maru Hotel has every bit the quintessential living style that spells Zanzibar. Wide patios, white walls with delicately carved doors, intricate ironwork and miniature curios adorning nooks and crannies lighted up with the sunshine streaming through colored glass panes, you will love to spend your cultural vacation in this mid-range accommodation in Zanzibar (read more on other Stone Town places to stay). Maru Maru has 44 rooms in all, 11 in the Classic Wing and the balance 33 in the more contemporary New Wing. The collection of rooms is arranged around a star-shaped fountain over four floors accessed by an elevator. AfricanMecca lodgers can choose from rooms in 4 categories, 17 Queen Rooms of which 12 in the New Wing and 5 are in the Classic Wing, and 10 Twin Rooms of which one is in the Classic Wing. The forest also houses many unique species of flora, and you might chance to see butterflies, millipedes, lizards, geckos, frogs, Sykes monkeys and many other interesting denizens. Complete your excursion by viewing the distinct Stone Town architectural wonders of olden Zanzibar, each marking a different part of the vibrant Tanzanian history, Your guide will talk to you about the tales behind the edifices such as the Anglican Church, Beit-al-Ajaib or the House of Wonders, Old Fort, Sultan’s Palace, Forodhani Gardens and many more. The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

I booked my safari holiday through AfricanMecca. They were the most helpful company I have ever dealt with and I work within the travel industry. I had the most amazing time. The holiday went as clockwork with no hitches anywhere.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.
Denise Paterson - Belmont, Australia
Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
