Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Zanzibar Coffee House
Accessible through the labyrinthine streets of Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the capital of Zanzibar Island, The Zanzibar Coffee House is a pleasant economy accommodation for your spice island holiday in this beautiful, ancient settlement. First built in 1885, it was the residence of a minister or Wazir, Sir ThariaTopan, who served under the Sultan Said Bargash. Today it retains the authentic Zanzibari furniture, brass artifacts and filigree lamps, storage chests and other antiquated relics that add to its old world ambience. As you walk through the alleyways of Stone Town, you can enjoy shopping at the tiny traditional stores selling you spices, traditional clothing, Tanzanite jewelry and other handmade treasures. If you have never bargained before, AfricanMecca recommends that you try it now because, in Zanzibar, it is perfectly acceptable. On your way back to your stayover, you can stop by at the Zanzibar Coffee House Cafe next door and try their coffees grown in estates in southern Tanzania along with a range of snack accompaniments that will make your island trip memorable. You will be putting up in one of the 8 rooms, each of which is air-conditioned with ceiling fans, original Zanzibari beds with mosquito nets for your protection, Wi-Fi services and other amenities typical of an affordable accommodation designed to make your stay on your travel comfortable. The Caturra with a single bed, Excelsa and Espresso with twin beds all have a private bathroom each, accessible through a corridor. The Macchiato, Moccachino, Cappucino, Bourbon Family Suite and Arabica Suite are all larger and come with an en-suite bathroom.
The Zanzibar Coffee House serves tasty meals at its rooftop restaurant. Absorb the sounds of muezzin prayer calls, temple and church bells along with the spectacular sunrises and sunsets over the olden city as you sample their wholesome fare. Later, you can view the many architectural, cultural and historical wonders of Zanzibar as your private AfricanMecca guide assigned to accompany you on your tour relates to you the many interesting tales behind their erection and use. View the Forodhani Gardens, Anglican Church, Beit-al-Sahel, Beit-al-Ajaib, Tippu Tip House and so many more. You must also visit the fruit and spice farms of Zanzibar. The information you glean about the many natural medicines that can be made from them will help you understand why the ancients valued them so much. You will also realize why the Spice Island became such as coveted possession in East Africa. Along with the zests, also view the many uncommon fruits like bungo, durian and shoki-shoki along with other more familiar varieties, from banana to papaya. The Jozani Forest Reserve is yet another enchanting wilderness you must explore on your island vacation. It has an incredible diversity of rare and unusual flora that play host to butterflies, millipedes, frogs, lizards and many other creatures you will appreciate photographing. The most interesting are the rare red colobus monkeys that are thriving here thanks to conservation efforts that rescued it from the edge of extinction. Optionally, underwater adventurers can explore the protected Indian Ocean marine reserves of the Mnemba and Chumbe as part of their day excursion.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.

Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
