SULTAN PALACE IN ZANZIBAR
From Zanzibar Airport, your road journey to the Sultan Palace takes you through lush green vegetation teeming with papaya, coconut, banana and mango fruit. As you arrive at this modest establishment on your travels in this part of Tanzania, you will be enchanted by the sheer natural beauty of the Dongwe section of Bwejuu Beach in Zanzibar. The hotel itself has an agreeable ambience with Swahili decor that whispers to you of Zanzibar's fused history. Antiquated mini-palace like structures constructed out of stone with white-washed detailing form the setting for your Zanzibar seaside vacation with AfricanMecca, while the pearly white sands and turquoise of the sea will remain with you long after. Indulge in siestas in the warm sun as you lounge beside the swimming pool that directly faces the ocean. Front thatched deck roofs and rustic facades of the 15 stone chalets arranged in a backdrop of lush gardens house some of the suites the resort offers. Furnished with two-poster Zanzibari beds draped with mosquito nets and detailed lace, part suspended from the ceiling, lend a feel of romance to the rooms. The large rooms come with air-conditioning, interior baraza sitting area, Sultan’s chairs and coffee table and telephone. Wi-Fi is also available. Quaint rope daybeds on the open deck patios are perfect for naps while the spacious en-suite bathroom includes a hairdryer, shower cubicle, bidet and toilet. You can opt for the 6 Garden Suites with either twin or double beds. They also have 4 Ocean Suites with double beds with stunning sea views and 5 Imperial Suites that can accommodate 4 guests, each of which has seashore access and view. Sultan Palace serves hearty, wholesome meals at their in-house restaurant. You could also dine in the afternoons on their thatch-covered beach bar with views of the shimmering ocean in front of you. Spend a day on your exploratory trip in Zanzibar to tour the old bazaars of its capital, Stone Town. Your well-informed AfricanMecca guide will also take you to see the many architectural wonders that the island is famous for, each a remnant of a different eon in Zanzibar's past. When you visit the spice farmsteads, you will understand the fascination of the many ancient rulers that wanted to retain a hold on this island township. Learn to harvest the spices and taste them in their natural form. Make your way to Jozani Forest where you can watch the rare kirk’s red colobus monkeys in their natural habitat. Also, view the sykes' monkeys and other smaller fauna amidst a stunning variety of flora. Novice and seasoned anglers could book a day of fishing aboard the one of the custom-built motorized boats that takes you out to the deep seas of the Indian Ocean. If you enjoy scuba diving and snorkeling during your beach holidays or would like to try it out for the first time, you must visit the coral reefs around Bwejuu or even Mnemba Atoll in the northeast, an aquatic reserve that hosts an incredible diversity of marine life. Revel in the sight of stunning reef fish, turtles, sea slugs, sea anemones and many more.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

I booked my safari holiday through AfricanMecca. They were the most helpful company I have ever dealt with and I work within the travel industry. I had the most amazing time. The holiday went as clockwork with no hitches anywhere.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.
Denise Paterson - Belmont, Australia
Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
