ANNA OF ZANZIBAR
Taking its name from the traditional currency of Zanzibar’s trading past, the Anna of Zanzibar has all the romance and charm of that bygone era. Nestled on the Bwejuu’s southeastern coast of the island between Ras Michamwi and Paje, this deluxe holidaying resort is set in a beautifully landscaped garden with paved walkways leading up to the common areas, swimming pool and villas (where else to stay in southern Zanzibar). The shimmering white sands of the beach equipoise by the stunning turquoise of the Indian Ocean make a serene backdrop for long walks while enjoying the gentle sea breezes and sights of tiny sea creatures in rock pools. You could also take massages at the spa or relax in a daybed or hammock with a book from the resort's library beside the pool or under thatched parasols on the beachfront. Anna of Zanzibar has decor that combines elements from the Europe, Asia, Arabia and East Africa. White walls, roofs with rough-hewn wooden rafters, hardwood floors adorned with rugs, carved doorways and furniture, gorgeous Swahili fabrics and closets with wickerwork doors, together create a spellbinding allure. They have just 5 villas for discerning seaside vacationers, each with a private patio for enjoying the glorious sunrises over the ocean. The villas also have a distinct living area and dressing room aside from a spacious air-conditioned master bedroom. Three of the villas are suited for accommodating family groups of three and four AfricanMecca guests. This unique boutique resort serves you a selection of a-la-carte cuisine cooked and served with care. You can choose to have your meals in the main lounge that also has a bar. On your request, the hotel staff can set up meals on the patio of your villa, on the beachside or by the pool. Besides spending time at the Anna of Zanzibar, you must also go exploring the varied sights that Zanzibar is famous for. Trip around Stone Town, the capital, and you can view diverse remnants of the past such as the old merchant buildings and other cultural and architectural wonders, from forts, churches, mosques to palaces. Go shopping in the olden bazaars, and you can buy souvenirs of your Tanzanian travels like handmade curios, delicate jewelry, textiles including Swahili clothing and much more. You must also visit the Jozani Forest, a reserve area where the red colobus monkey thrives along with a stunning variety of other fauna, flora, insects, reptiles and amphibians. A tour of the distinguished spice farms of Zanzibar must be included in your AfricanMecca itinerary. Even as you learn about their medicinal properties, you will understand what made the island the center of much friction. These zests were invaluable in the olden days. Also, view fruits like bungo, durian, shoki-shoki, papaya, fenesi and custard apples to name a scarce few. Under the guidance of a Zanzibari divemaster guide, you could go snorkeling and scuba diving in the coral gardens where you can view a dazzling array of reef life like sea anemones, turtles, nudibranchs, Spanish dancers and others. Go deep sea fishing off the Zanzibar coastline on one of the custom-built boats, and you might be lucky enough to catch a marlin, dorado, trevally, tuna, swordfish, sailfish or some other sturdy ocean fighter.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

I booked my safari holiday through AfricanMecca. They were the most helpful company I have ever dealt with and I work within the travel industry. I had the most amazing time. The holiday went as clockwork with no hitches anywhere.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.
Denise Paterson - Belmont, Australia
Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
