Experience the breathtaking beauty of the Indian Ocean with its blue waters gently lapping on a gorgeous beach of powdery white sands. The lush tropical greenery with waving coconut trees and beautiful flowers adds to the palette of color that is mesmerizing to appreciate. This is Zanzibar, a distinct island off the eastern coast of Tanzania, a superb Swahili vacation destination. If you would like to enjoy the attractions of this ancient trading post alongside access to Mnemba Atoll for underwater exploration with your family and friends, you could stay over at the Che Che Vule in the northeast of the island. This accommodation gives AfricanMecca guests a private house experience at affordable prices. Spread on a landscaped estate with a free form swimming pool, beside the famous Matemwe Beach, this two-story house has a lounge, bar and indoor dining area. It also has just 4 bedrooms, each with a different decor. Thatched roofs and white walls give it the coastal touch while large windows offer sweeping views of the ocean across the garden. The two rooms on the upper floor come with balconies. Ensuite bathrooms are included with two of the bedrooms, and all have beds with mosquito netting for your protection. Kids accompanying their parents can enjoy their seaside holiday building castles on the beach or playing in the pool gardens while you can lounge in comfortable day beds.
On your request, the attendants of the house will also set up a dining arrangement beside the pool while food is cooked fresh for you in their open kitchen. Enjoy the taste of flavorsome, home-cooked meals, made with the freshest of ingredients sourced from on and in the seas around. The chef is also open to making meals suited to the tastes of kids. While you could spend your entire holiday sunbathing and taking lazy siestas at Che Che Vule, you must travel to the many exciting spots that Zanzibar is famous for. Visit its capital, Stone Town for a day of touring and leisurely shopping, and here, you could pick up many items like Swahili clothing, handcrafted curios, beautiful bead trinkets, spices and so much more. Stone Town is a unique UNESCO World Heritage Site in this part of East Africa, and has several historical and cultural relics that you can view. The AfricanMecca guide accompanying you will reveal to you the many tales behind the construction of each. Take a trip to the Jozani Forest Reserve to view a rare primate, the red colobus monkey. Watch these unique creatures in their natural habitat as they groom one another and forage for food. You could also explore the renowned Zanzibar spice and fruit farms. Here, you will learn the unique medicinal properties of the spices that made them a very valuable property in the ancient world. The island is also well-known for many tropical fruits such as mango, custard apple, papaya, durian, bungo and many more. Opposite Matemwe Beach is the famed marine reserve around Mnemba Island. To revel in the sight of its dazzling underworld, include scuba diving and snorkeling excursion to its atoll to your itinerary. Additionally, both experienced and novice anglers can try catching the many game fish at designated deep sea areas of Zanzibar.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.

Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
