SHOOTING STAR LODGE IN ZANZIBAR
Kiwengwa Beach is an appealing coastal stretch located on the east of Zanzibar Island with its warm turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean gently gliding the gorgeous white sands. In this setting, spread over an incline of lush, green gardens augmented with colorful flowers is the Shooting Star Lodge. A fine no-frills accommodation with a subtle flavor of “boutiqueness”, it is suited for laidback AfricanMecca guests more focused on enjoying the calming beauty of the seashore of Zanzibar with expeditions around the historic island on their exploratory vacation in Eastern Africa. The lodge has a small infinity swimming pool with quaint sisal rope daybeds where you can take leisurely siestas while soaking up the warmth of the tropical sun. The rooms offered by Shooting Star have a simple, rustic seaside charm about them with their white walls, thatched roofs and emblematic Zanzibari furniture of a four-poster bed with gauzy mosquito netting and side tables. Available in three categories, choose from 16 room options during your beach trip in Zanzibar such as the 3 Garden Lodge Rooms with patios furnished with comfortable loungers and 11 Sea View Cottages. Each of these cottages includes two bedrooms located over two levels with fine views of the ocean. You can also opt for one of their 2 Monsoon Villas, named in Kiswahili after the Indian Ocean trade winds – Kusi and Kaskazi, that combine the romance of Zanzibar reflected on the carved doors with comfortable living spaces over three stories with a private plunge pool. All of the rooms come with air-conditioning and have a ceiling fan too. Enjoy hearty wholesome meals in the lodge's restaurant with light ocean zephyrs wafting through the open space covered with a thatched roof.
Besides the villages in Kiwengwa, there are many island attractions in Zanzibar where you can spend long hours sightseeing on your rest and relaxation holiday of Tanzania. You could head out to the marine reserve of Mnemba Atoll off the coast of Matemwe Beach on the northeast where you could go exploring the underwater realm of coral gardens and view their many rousing denizens in a plethora of colors and shapes. Zanzibar has another conservation set aside in its center, the Jozani Forest Reserve. This location is the abode of the kirk’s red colobus monkeys that are not found in any other part of the world. If you like angling, there are a number of designated deep sea sites where you can try catching swordfish, sailfish, marlins, wahoo and many more. You must also spend time touring the capital of the Zanzibar, Stone Town in the western region. This ancient metropolis has many old buildings with different architectural styles that remind you of the upheavals and fusion the island has seen, and also its prominent place on the spice route. You will be able to bargain many delightful artifacts, hand-crafted just as they have traditionally been over the centuries. If you would like to view the many spices growing on the trees and plant shrubs, visit the illustrious spice farmsteads of Zanzibar. Here, your knowledgeable AfricanMecca guide will demonstrate how the spices are harvested and you could taste them in their fresh, organic form. Also, try the unique species of fruit that grow on the island. You will remember their luscious taste long after you return home from your experiential travel in Zanzibar.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.
Denise Paterson - Belmont, Australia
Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
