The Blu Marlin is an agreeable accommodation close to the village of Kumba Urembo on the Kiwengwa Beach in eastern area of Zanzibar (where else to stay). It is ideal for value vacationers looking to spend time in peace and tranquility on this unique island in East Africa, but at affordable prices. The hotel has a coastal village feel about it with thatched roofs, simple yet comfortable common areas. The Indian Ocean with its stunning blue lies before you while pristine white sands sink below your toes. Thatched parasols on the seashore shelter the loungers and swing beds where you can enjoy lazy siestas in between cool-off dips in the ocean. You could also lounge beside the resort’s swimming pool or play a couple of rounds of billiard in the lounge. Or, make your way to the small spa by the beachfront that offers uncomplicated massages. The Blu Marlin has a collection of just 13 air-conditioned rooms, housed in a white two-story structure that charms you with its simple appeal. You can choose from the eight double rooms or two triple rooms. If you are traveling as a group of four AfricanMecca guests, you could choose to stay in the two larger rooms. The hotel also has a Family Suite that comprises of two bedrooms, one with a double bed, and the other with twin beds. The bathroom in this suite is shared. The rooms also include a ceiling fan, mosquito netting, dressing top, closet and en-suite bathroom.
Have your meals in the Blu Marlin’s modest restaurant. You can look forward to simple, homely fare that includes vegetables and fruits sourced from the island’s gardens, meats from the Tanzanian mainland and fresh seafood caught from the ocean. Aside from traditional local fare, you can also try the inter-continental cuisine on your seaside trip. Also, order drinks in the bar at the restaurant. While you could spend your entire holiday relaxing on the beaches of Zanzibar, you must explore the hidden underwater worlds of the Indian Ocean. Go on a snorkeling excursion at Chumbe or scuba diving at Mnemba Atoll to view a mesmerizing underworld abound with coral and reef creatures of many hues and shapes. On shore, there is the forest of Jozani, a conservation area set aside for the unique red colobus monkey. You will also find many rare species of flora here along with butterflies, frogs, millipedes, lizards and many more. Visit the spice farms, and you will find the seasonings you buy at your supermarkets in their raw organic form, growing on trees and plants. Your knowledgeable AfricanMecca guide will amaze you with information about all the uses of the spices aside from flavoring food. You might also enjoy viewing the fascinating array of unusual fruits endemic to the island. If you would like to shop for souvenirs, try the old bazaars in Stone Town, the capital. Its slender alleyways have tiny dukas (stores) lining them selling you traditional goods just as they have for centuries. Tour Stone Town’s many architectural, cultural and historical relics; alternatively if you are back at the hotel, you could go angling in the distinct deep water-fishing sites around Zanzibar Island.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.

Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
