GUIDE ON MILA TENTED CAMP IN SERENGETI
Mwiba Wildlife Reserve, near the southern section of Serengeti, is a superb location for wildlife viewing, and the five natural springs in the area gives it a truly unique character that is enjoyed by nature travelers from around the world. Resident species can be observed year-round, and the Great Migration is seen in the southern Serengeti Plains from December to March.
Surrounded by nearly 130,000 acres of untouched wilderness in Mwiba Wildlife Reserve, Mila Tented Camp takes you beyond the popular sites to an immersive private safari experience. Set amidst a divine acacia woodland, the camp is available on an exclusive basis for groups of 12 or more guests. For solo travelers, couples or smaller groups can book their individual tents, and be assigned a private guide and exclusive use of 4x4 throughout their stay at Mila.
Accommodation At Mila Tented CampEach guest tent at Mila Tented Camp is mounted upon a stone platform to give you unfettered views of the surroundings from the privacy of your shaded verandah. Netted doors and windows allow the breeze to waft through the interior space, and these can be closed with canvas if desired. Inside your tent is an elegance that enhances every fantasy holiday, yet the décor stays true to an authentic and luxurious Tanzanian bush experience. The sleeping area includes a bed with white linens, canopied with mosquito netting and flanked by bedside tables and lamps. A luggage rack, safari wardrobe and personal safe are also included. The ensuite bathroom features a double vanity with mirrors, indoor shower and flush toilet. There are a total of six tents including a family tent with two bedrooms.
Safari At Mila Tented CampEach guest tent has an assigned private guide and exclusive 4x4 vehicle, and your every whim is perfectly managed by the staff. Being within the private reserve of Serengeti assures you of morning and evening game drives to view resident species, as well as the immense wildebeest and zebra herds of the Great Serengeti Migration. Yet there are many benefits to being on a private reserve for a nature-centric vacation. You enjoy the flora and fauna away from larger crowds, and you have access to activities that cannot be enjoyed within the park, such as cultural visits, guided walking safaris and night game drives.
The Hadzabe, Datoga, Maasai and Sukuma tribes live in the area around the reserve, and we can arrange a cultural day visit so that you can see firsthand their traditions and ways of life. Walking along trails used by the animals gives you an opportunity to study the finer details of the ecosystem, as well as to learn some intriguing tracking skills from your guide. Nighttime game drives ensure that your dream trip offers unique insights into the nocturnal activities of African creatures large and small. Larger herbivores and carnivores display unique behaviors under the cover of darkness, and nocturnal animals rarely seen in daylight emerge from various hiding places. It is an experience unlike any other and is sure to be amongst the most memorable of your time in southern Serengeti.
Dining At Mila Tented CampThe camp chef offers warm breakfasts, lunches, afternoon teas and dinners, as well as meals in the African bush at times that easily accommodate your personal wilderness tour activity. Enjoying a morning sampling of dishes or savoring a delectable picnic amidst the flora and fauna of Tanzania is unlike any experience that you have ever had. After your morning activities and a little siesta, gather with other guests for afternoon tea, and the chef will prepare some sweet morsels to accompany the warm beverage. You can have dinner with new friends in the main tent, or we can arrange for private dining should you want a more intimate setting for two. When your appetite is satisfied, guests gather around the campfire to share stories, sip cognac, count the stars glittering in the African sky and listen intently for the sounds of wildlife just off in the distance.

What We Like About Mila Tented Camp
- Mila Tented Camp is designed with the upmarket, premier client in mind who desires a private reserve experience.
- This is a small, exclusive camp that serves a maximum of 14 guests in six tents including a two-bedroom family tent.
- The camp operates in a spectacular location with unique geological and botanical elements that work as centerpieces for guest meals and sundowners. It also offers a range of activities i.e. day and night game drives, walking safaris, authentic cultural visits, optional fly camping overnights.
- Mila Tented Camp is open throughout the year, and is located only 15 minutes from Mwiba Airstrip.
- Guests are assigned a private guide and exclusive use of safari vehicle. Game activities are done in the private Mwiba Wildlife Reserve in southern Serengeti.
Things To Note When Staying At Mila Tented Camp
- Because the camp allows children of ages 8 and above, it may not be the best option for guests who prefer a small and intimate adult-oriented accommodation.
- There is an extra charge for the fly camping activity.
- Mila is not the best option to stay in when the wildebeest migration is not present in southern Serengeti.
- Mwiba Wildlife Reserve was formerly a hunting reserve that is now turned into a photographic reserve. Wildlife can be skittish due it former history; though, wildlife viewing is improving every year in the private reserve.
- This is a premier luxury accommodation, so prices are on the higher side.

AfricanMecca's professionalism and care understands that what distinguishes Africa is its authenticity, the land, people and wildlife who do not share our world of fashion and fanfare that distinguish so many travel companies today.
