Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Kiota Camp

Twice each year, the migration brings tremendous new energy to the wildlife activity in central Serengeti, making it an ideal time to plan your special safari with AfricanMecca. Joining the over 1.5 million migratory wildebeests and thousands of zebras are plentiful resident species, including herbivores and carnivores that are in a never-ending life-and-death rivalry.

The word “kiota” means “nest,” and Kiota Camp is an inviting, deluxe accommodation that lives up to its namesake. Kiota Camp is permanently sited in the heart of Serengeti National Park, Seronera River Valley, a beautiful setting for your bush holiday, especially if you are seeking a smaller, more intimate camp experience. The camp has no age restriction, so you can bring your children for a fun-filled family tour to learn about some of Africa’s natural and cultural treasures.

Accommodation At Kiota Camp

You feel welcome the moment that you arrive at Kiota Camp, as you are greeted with moist towels to freshen up and a cool, refreshing beverage. The camp staff also introduces you to your remote retreat in the Tanzanian wilderness with a delightful hand-carved bird figure, the same hand-crafted figures that you will find in nooks in the guest tents. The camp property features twelve guest tents, each measuring a roomy 36 square meters. The organic design elements, jewel tones, taupe and ecru colors create a warm ambience that helps you unwind. Mosquito netting on the windows can be opened during the day to allow for fresh breezes and closed at night if you prefer. Each tent accommodates two adults in a spacious king-size bed. An optional single bed can be added for the third guest e.g. child sharing the same tent.

Next to each bed is an intriguing bedside table made of a reclaimed tree trunk, and lamps on the tables allow for late night reading and journaling. The sleeping area also features a writing desk with chair, luggage rack, in-tent charging point with adapter, and lounge chairs. An ensuite bathroom provides a flush toilet, bucket shower, safari wardrobe, two vessel sinks and mirrors. Upon request or by set schedule, the staff brings 20L of hot water to fill your bucket shower. You also have a personal digital safe and electric lighting. Outside is a shaded haven for viewing wildlife and sunset. A private verandah is a must for any traveler who seeks a solitary moment amidst the beauty of Serengeti National Park. The amazing views spread in every direction, and the sunsets paint the skies with golden hues.

Safari At Kiota Camp

Serengeti National Park is a highly desired destination for guests who seek the utmost natural experience during their safari vacations, and it’s no wonder! Areas of the park are part of the route followed by over 1.5 million wildebeests and thousands of zebras as part of the Great Migration. Seeing the herd thunder across the terrain is a mesmerizing experience. Our guides know the perfect points in central Serengeti to give you the best viewing opportunities. Game drives take you out into the terrain in the early morning and afternoon.

For the most action-seeking guests, we can also arrange day-long game drives that include picnic lunches. Complementary activities give you unique perspectives on the Serengeti ecosystem, such as hot-air ballooning, Retima Hippo Pool viewing and a tour of the Serengeti Visitor Centre. For children, Kiota Camp offers tours of the bush kitchen and perhaps a bit of helping with meal preparation, as well as solar-system tours at night. However you spend your days and nights at Kiota Camp, the beauty of Tanzania is sure to make your trip absolutely magical!

Dining At Kiota Camp

Each morning as the sun rises above the horizon, your tent attendant delivers coffee, hot chocolate and tea to your tent as part of the wake-up service. You will particularly enjoy the aromatic beverages outdoors on your verandah, as you will sense the energy of the animals that are preparing for their morning grazing. Your guide takes you into the wilderness for a few hours, and you can have breakfast in the bush or back at camp. Selections include bacon, sausage, eggs, fruit and cereals, all served with coffee, tea and other beverages. Picnic lunches allow you to stay amongst the wildlife a longer, or you can have an assortment of meats, cheeses and fruits in the dining tent.

Tea is served in the afternoon just prior to your late-day game drive. Dinner is a gastronomic affair, even though you are on safari in the remoteness of Africa. One of our favorite evening appetizers is the avocado served with vinaigrette. The full evening meal features rice, vegetables, salads, soups and beef or chicken, just to name some of the fare you will enjoy. We can also arrange an intimate bush dinner under the vast African skies.

Things To Note When Staying At Kiota Camp
