Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Hotel Tilapia

Located at Capri Point of Lake Victoria in Mwanza, Hotel Tilapia is an affordable accommodation for your rest and relaxation trip to Lake Victoria. Choose from 30 standard rooms and 4 suites, or for the African houseboat holiday, you may choose to stay on the hotel's African Queen boat in any of its 7 rooms. Standard rooms feature lake or garden views - both available on the ground floor or with balconies on the first floor. In-room amenities include twin or double beds with mosquito netting, and additional beds may be added upon request. Guest suites have a large living room with DVD players and a separate bedroom. The African Queen is docked at the water's edge at the lake front of the hotel property. The boat’s seven guest rooms allows you to enjoy an African boat accommodation experience that is right out of a classic Hollywood movie – “African Queen” that starred Captain Humphrey Bogart and Queen Catherine Hepburn as “Captain Charlie Alnut and Rose Sayer”! All rooms feature flat screen televisions, air conditioning, tea and coffee stations, in-room safes, laundry service, room service, hot water and wireless internet access. Other hotel services include wake-up service, on-call doctor for emergencies, laundry service and much more. The hotel also caters to business travelers with a fully-equipped business center and conference facilities. The banquet facilities are also perfect for large AfricanMecca groups, family gatherings, wedding receptions and other special events.

Be pampered during your stay with a visit to Spa Nirvana where you will experience the holistic benefits of traditional treatments using instinctive botanicals and oils. With three different restaurants on the property, Hotel Tilapia offers a variety of palatable food throughout the day and night. DomoDomo is the hotel's main restaurant, and lighter fare is also served at the Garden Area and Swimming Pool/Terrace. A buffet breakfast is served in the main restaurant featuring hot and cold options. Dinner choices at DomoDomo include continental dishes, such as chicken a-la Kiev, fish a-la meuniere and much more, as well as authentic Indian, Thai and African dishes - a special treat during any Tanzania culinary safari. Your meals may be served inside the restaurant or on the terrace with breathtaking views of the lake, and room service is also available. The hotel also features two bars and a coffee shop. When you are not eating, sipping a cocktail or lounging by the pool, you may wish to journey into Mwanza for the day. At sunset, though, return to the hotel in time for a delightful sunset cruise on Lake Victoria! This exceptional part of your Hotel Tilapia lake tour includes drinks and snacks (read more on when is the best time to visit Mwanza by Lake Victoria). If you have more time on hand, you may visit Rubondo Island National Park from Mwanza with AfricanMecca for a couple of nights. The Rubondo Park offers walking and boat safaris, as well as bird watching and fishing, or optionally visit Serengeti National Park for the wildebeest migration. The park is only 2-3 hours away from the western sector of the park.
