The scenic lake is situated in the Great Rift Valley escarpment south-west of Ngorongoro Crater. Because the lake does not contain fresh water, the number of wildlife presence is lesser than other lakes in Tanzania. As a result, many tourists primarily prefer to visit Lake Manyara due to this but are simply missing out on the unique cultural experience of what Lake Eyasi has got to offer. Exploring the beauty of Lake Eyasi during your African cultural tour is a memorable experience.

You also learn about tracking techniques, animal dung, carcasses and much more, as well as the traditional uses of the plants. The wetlands around the lake support large populations of diverse avi-fauna species, and specialized bird-watching safaris with experienced local guides’ help you locate and identify birds during your safari walks, as well as learn about the ecosystems near the lake. The Hadzabe and Datoga communities who live near the lake continue to preserve their ancient customs and tribal practices. Enhance your curiosity trip to Lake Eyasi with a cultural tour to local villages and farms where you not only observe the native peoples, but also gain hands-on experience with their ways of life. During your AfricanMecca cultural expedition of Lake Eyasi, you will meet the Bushmen of East Africa, Hadzabe hunters and gatherers who have followed their traditional lifestyle for more than 10,000 years, or the Datoga tribe, a nomadic people of northern Tanzania.

Dining At Tindiga Tented Camp

Datoga women from nearby communities built the dining area at the camp, and the construction not only reflects traditional techniques, but also adds an authentic sense of Africa to your experience. You may choose to eat at the camp or take a picnic lunch to enjoy during your Lake Eyasi cultural tour. Breakfast choices include "full English" and European options, such as cereal, fruit, toast and much more. For lunch, you choose from pasta, breads, chicken or vegetable curry, grilled meats and other dishes though selection varies from day to day. The campfire is an excellent place to meet and talk with other guests. While you relax on comfortable cushions enjoying a sunset cocktail, the staff prepares your evening meal, which may include a selection of fish, poultry, meat, vegetables, salads, soups and other dishes.
