Tindiga Tented Camp is a reasonable and convenient accommodation located near Lake Eyasi. At the camp, you have a wonderful abode to enjoy the surroundings, share stories with other guests and enlighten yourself during your cultural safari in East Africa with the local Hadzabe and Datoga tribes. You have privacy in your guest test, and for those times when you wish to socialize, the camp offers several common areas, such as a dining area, lounge and outdoor sitting area with cushions and a campfire. The small number of guest tents, only ten, means that you enjoy personalized service, both at the camp and during your Tanzania cultural safari activities, and the simplicity of the camp meets all of your fundamental needs in lodging, location and food. The camp is located within the Eyasi ecosystem, and is situated less than one mile from the lake. You can experience Lake Eyasi as part of your northern circuit safari experience with AfricanMecca – from Ngorongoro and Serengeti to the north and Manyara to the east and Tarangire to the southeast of the lake. The nearby villages of the Hadzabe and Datoga communities offer cultural interactions, and should you visit the village, you may also see Mount Masumbuku in the distance. With the alkaline Lake Eyasi close to the camp, you are only a short walk from a breathtaking and unique setting of meadows and forests where you may see hippo, monkey and other mammals, as well as winged fauna, such as flamingo, stork, pelican and many more.

Accommodation At Tindiga Tented Camp

For your cultural adventure in Tanzania with AfricanMecca, Tindiga Tented Camp offers 10 guest tents that are designed to blend into the natural environment. The hybrid style and design of the tents are part reminiscent of times when adventurers first explored the landscapes of Africa combined with a village like feel by having a thatched roof awning above the tent. Each tent is constructed of durable canvas and the openings are covered with insect-proof netting. Gentle breezes keep your tent cool when the front entrance and windows flaps are open, and these may be closed at night or for additional privacy when needed. Inside your tent are adequate furnishings that offer uncomplicated comfort and convenience during your adventure travels in Africa, such as beds, small tables and full bathroom with bucket shower, flush toilet, sink, running water and soap. Linens, towels, mosquito coils, candles, matches, electrical lighting and bottled water are also provided. A straw shelter offers additional protection from the nature elements, as well as shade for your private verandah where you will find comfortable chairs and loungers. In the evenings, the homely character of the camp is transformed by the illumination of traditional lanterns on the campgrounds and along pathways. The romantic and soothing setting comforts you to relax from a day of exciting activities while you prepare for a peaceful slumber in the African bush. Common areas of the camp include a dining area, small bar and lounge with fireplace.

Safari At Tindiga Tented Camp

Located near Lake Eyasi, Tindiga Tented Camp gives you convenient access to unique Tindiga tour activities including cultural during your tour of northern Tanzania (read more on when is the best time to visit Lake Eyasi). The scenic lake is situated in the Great Rift Valley escarpment south-west of Ngorongoro Crater. Because the lake does not contain fresh water, the number of wildlife presence is lesser than other lakes in Tanzania. As a result, many tourists primarily prefer to visit Lake Manyara due to this but are simply missing out on the unique cultural experience of what Lake Eyasi has got to offer. The cultural experience of northern Tanzania is unfairly concentrated on the Maasai tribe, however, visiting Lake Eyasi will give you a sense of utmost unadulterated seclusion amongst the African bush and personal interactions with the unique native tribe of Hadzabe and Datoga who live in the area. Exploring the beauty of Lake Eyasi during your African cultural tour is a memorable experience.

A walking safari allows you to enjoy a leisurely walk to the lake, and your guide shares valuable knowledge about the flora and fauna that thrive near the water source. You also learn about tracking techniques, animal dung, carcasses and much more, as well as the traditional uses of the plants. The wetlands around the lake support large populations of diverse avi-fauna species, and specialized bird-watching safaris with experienced local guides’ help you locate and identify birds during your safari walks, as well as learn about the ecosystems near the lake. The Hadzabe and Datoga communities who live near the lake continue to preserve their ancient customs and tribal practices. Enhance your curiosity trip to Lake Eyasi with a cultural tour to local villages and farms where you not only observe the native peoples, but also gain hands-on experience with their ways of life. During your AfricanMecca cultural expedition of Lake Eyasi, you will meet the Bushmen of East Africa, Hadzabe hunters and gatherers who have followed their traditional lifestyle for more than 10,000 years, or the Datoga tribe, a nomadic people of northern Tanzania.

Dining At Tindiga Tented Camp

Datoga women from nearby communities built the dining area at the camp, and the construction not only reflects traditional techniques, but also adds an authentic sense of Africa to your experience. For your exploratory cultural holiday in Africa, three meals are provided, and the food will adequately satisfy your hunger though don’t expect wondrous cuisine here. You may choose to eat at the camp or take a picnic lunch to enjoy during your Lake Eyasi cultural tour. Breakfast choices include "full English" and European options, such as cereal, fruit, toast and much more. For lunch, you choose from pasta, breads, chicken or vegetable curry, grilled meats and other dishes though selection varies from day to day. The campfire is an excellent place to meet and talk with other guests. While you relax on comfortable cushions enjoying a sunset cocktail, the staff prepares your evening meal, which may include a selection of fish, poultry, meat, vegetables, salads, soups and other dishes. If you prefer vegetarian options, arrange this via your AfricanMecca tour planner prior to arrival to ensure guaranteed availability during your visit to the camp (read more on where else to stay in Lake Eyasi). Complimentary coffee and tea are served in the afternoon, and the intimate bar offers a selection of local and imported wines, beers and spirits. Other beverages are available, such as bottled water, soft drinks and much more.
