Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Protea Amani Beach
A little-known hideaway, constructed in keeping with the elegance of a Swahili coastal getaway, the Protea Hotel Amani Beach is a tranquil Dar es Salaam seaside accommodation, amidst eighty acres of lush tropical greenery. Amani translates into “Peace” in Kiswahili, and the word aptly describes the ambience of this beach hotel. It is situated 20 miles in the southern Ras Kutani beach area of Dar es Salaam and can be reached by a short ferry ride and a 40-minute drive by road later. Its remote location means that the only fauna sounds you will hear are that of birds singing in the trees and monkeys chattering and swinging from the branches. The calming sound of the waves on the lax sands of the south beach only adds to the serenity you might look for on your African seashore vacation. The Protea Hotel Amani Beach maintains 10 stone built chalets available to AfricanMecca guests, and each of them have thatch roofs to give you the feel of traditional African hut, but step into them, and you will be surprised by the charm of the spacious rooms. The décor is essentially regal with exotic Swahili style from a copper chest to an oversized comfy Zanzibar bed with contrasting soft furnishings and mosquito nets, amplifying your Dar es Salaam beach trip into a seemingly stately Sultan experience. The cottages accommodate 2 adults each. If you are travelling as a family, an extra third bed can be set up for the child.Large bathrooms with hair dryers, tubs where you can have bubble baths, and all other standard amenities are attached to every room. All the cottages are air-conditioned and have satellite TVs, so you follow your favorite news channel and ethnic shows. They also have tea and coffee making facilities and an electronic safe. Lounge on the hammock on your private veranda enjoy the stunning view of the ocean and the lush gardens, or take a walk down to the beach from your cottage on sandy paths. As the sun sets and the moon rises, the fragrances of jasmine and other tropical flowers waft through the ethereally beautiful night.
If you need child-minding services, do request the hotel. Also, you may utilize paid laundry services or order room service. The Protea Hotel Amani Beach has its own organic farm from where the ingredients for your meals are sourced, lending them that rich taste that is so unique of African produce. The hotel also offers you the choicest of seafood selections such as tasty red snapper fish cooked in coconut milk, fried prawns and grilled lobsters, freshly caught from the rich abundance of the sea. Meals are served in the hotel’s two restaurants, and you can expect a varied menu every day. Breakfast is served buffet style – Full English and includes freshly-baked breads, cereal other confectionery, potatoes and eggs made to order. After breakfast, explore the beach and you can find sea creatures in the ocean pools left behind by the receding tide. You might also experience hatched turtle finding their way to the ocean, monkeys or even the hotel’s resident cat wandering around. You can spend your afternoons swimming or even surfing through the waves (bring your own board) or tanning in the sun with cool drinks and light snacks from the hotel’s Makuti Thatch Bar. Or take an indolent dip in the sun-warmed swimming pool. The Protea Hotel Amani Beach is also a descent off-beat, ocean view Tanzania hotel to book small conferences, mini corporate incentives and other events. It also serves as an ideal seashore stopover after seeing the rich wildlife treasures of Tanzania during your safari excursion with AfricanMecca. Choose the Protea Hotel Amani Beach for a truly African placid holiday (read more on when is the best time to visit Dar es Salaam in Eastern Tanzania).

AfricanMecca's professionalism and care understands that what distinguishes Africa is its authenticity, the land, people and wildlife who do not share our world of fashion and fanfare that distinguish so many travel companies today.
