A bustling town, it serves as one of the locations where adventure tourists looking to go gorilla viewing can stay. Of course, you must take the time to meet the famed mountain gorillas. After a short briefing on the etiquettes of gorilla families, you can accompany your expert guide to meet them. Follow a picturesque trail through the forest that can take you from an hour to more than four hours before you come upon the family assigned to you. Another of the fascinating residents of the park are the golden monkeys that inhabit the bamboo forests. Choose yet another trail, and you can scale the sides of the Bisoke and Karisimbi mountains for delightful panoramas. Trip out to the grave of Dian Fossey where you can spend a few moments of quiet reverence for the woman who gave her life for the conservation of her beloved gorillas. You could also visit the Iby'Iwacu Village to meet the wise elders of the native people. Share their age-old lore as you sample their unique cuisine and culture. You could also learn to make artifacts or take part in their songs and dances.RELATED PAGES: (1) Volcanoes Safari Park Guide, (2) Best Time & Weather To Visit Volcanoes, (3) Safari Lodges, Camps & Hotels In Volcanoes
