GUIDE ON MPATA SAFARI CLUB IN KENYA
Mpata Safari Club with its eclectic blend of Maasai and Japanese architecture, set against a backdrop of the stunning, sprawling wilderness of Masai Mara, creates a quirky venue for your Kenyan safari vacation. Crowning an escarpment in the western boundary of the Masai Mara National Reserve, this economical lodge has spacious glass-fronted common areas with the picturesque vistas of the reserve and its many denizens. The glass facade also serves as power savers by letting in natural light and lending an airy, light ambience to the lodge. Spend time in their library looking through the interesting collection they have or head out to view the seasonal Great Migration of the wildebeest and zebras (July to October) as they pour across the plains like a steady stream numbering from 1.5 to 2 million. 23 cottages in two specifications are scattered over the property, their curved structures unusual and enchanting (read more on where else to stay in Masai Mara on your East African safari). Each of them is designed to include you in the varied moods of Masai Mara on your wilderness tour with AfricanMecca. As the days progresses, revel in its sheer beauty through floor-to-ceiling windows with curtains you can draw for privacy. You can charge your electronics through the outlets in your room and on cooler nights, hot water bottles are placed in your bed, so you remain comfortable in the highlands air. And since the accommodation turns off the electricity before you turn in for the night till early morning, torches are placed in the room for your use.
The twelve Deluxe Rooms have either double beds or twin beds and include a dresser and closet. The ensuite bathrooms are at the back, come with a curtained-off shower stall and twin basins. The room also has a spacious stone deck outside. The lodge also offers eleven roomy Suites that include a sitting area, small kitchen, bar and a dressing area with a vanity table cum mirror and closet. The en-suite bathroom has all the basic amenities of the Deluxe Rooms but in addition; the Suite has an extra toilet area. Guests staying in the Suites for the duration of their nature travel in Masai Mara can use the outdoor Jacuzzi and enjoy the views as they soak away their tiredness in between game drives. Since Mpata Safari Club is located outside the reserve, you might find that travelling to and from Mpata takes an added 30 minutes each way to the Mara Triangle sector. Masai Mara boasts of over 450 varied species of birds and an amazing diversity of mammals including the Big Five of Africa. You will be viewing them while on board the custom-equipped safari vehicles that AfricanMecca Safaris makes available on your active-adventure holiday in Kenya. The experienced Maasai guide accompanying you will enthrall you with his in-depth knowledge of the wildlife you see and enchant you with his tribe’s centuries-old local lore (read more on when is the best time to visit Masai Mara for a tour). More of which you can learn about when you visit his village. Wander through the bush on eye-opening tours as your bush guide explains to you the various properties of the flora you see and their surprising healing properties along with animal footprints, droppings, carcasses, insect life and more. Return to the lodge for adequate meals served in their restaurant or visit their bars for refreshing cocktails. Spend your afternoons on your wondrous trip in Eastern Africa with a cool, refreshing dip in their swimming pool or simply lounge beside it.
