CORAL KEY BEACH RESORT IN MALINDI

Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Coral Key Beach Resort

Coral Key Beach Resort in Malindi is a huge 150-room hotel that offers a simple and basic accommodation for the budget-conscious beach traveler in Africa that primarily caters to Italian guests in masses (300+ lodgers can be accommodated here). Located just minutes from the center of Malindi, the hotel has lovely gardens, several swimming pools and overlooks the Silversand Beach. Your guest room features modest Swahili décor and private verandah with views of either the pool or ocean. The rooms are large and the bathrooms are of adequate size, but rooms do not have televisions or telephones. Although the rooms are adequately clean, they are dark and outdated, and the sheets and towels are quite worn (past it due date!). Some of the other issues that you may have when you stay at this accommodation during your coastal trip to Malindi are ineffective or variable working air-conditioners, lack or unavailability of rooming supplies i.e. shampoo, body wash, conditioner, bottled water for brushing etc. Additionally, Coral Key Beach Resort Malindi may not be appropriate for your family beach holiday on the Indian Ocean as some questionable activities occur frequently outside the hotel (read more on where else to stay in Malindi). Rooms near the beach are quieter and the noise is quite significant in the rooms that are near the bar, restaurant and pool. Facilities at the hotel include a common television room with satellite channels, gift shop and beauty salon and you have access to limited services including decent internet in the common areas and laundry, although this is expensive.

If you choose a room on the downstairs level, you may use a fully-equipped, basic kitchen for an additional fee, giving you an alternative “self-cooking” option for your economical seaside tour in Kenya. Local grocery stores offer the ingredients you will need for your meals and the kitchen has a small refrigerator, burners and limited basic utensils. The hotel has three restaurants that primarily serve Italian food and the meals change little, so you may become tired with the food over the course of a few days, but the cappuccinos are always delicious. The staff are accommodating when asked, but service is inconsistent and variable, especially in the restaurants, and the bars offers little variety in spirits, beers, wines and cocktails. The grounds are well-maintained, and there is a small sand area that is owned by the hotel and this leads to a public beach where local vendors actively sell their wares, but once you move beyond the crowd, the ocean and reef are beautiful and serene. You may request varied activities for your beach vacation on the Indian Ocean, such as diving and snorkeling at the Malindi Marine Park, tennis and deep sea fishing, and the hotel also arranges evening entertainment. While staying at Coral Key Beach Resort Malindi, AfricanMecca recommends a thrilling wildlife safari to Tsavo East National Park with overnights at Satao Camp. If you have extra days, you can also combine it with an extension to Tsavo West and Amboseli.
