Right in the heart of the untouched wilderness of the smooth rolling Serengeti plains is the luxurious wild retreat of the Singita Sabora Tented Camp, located in the private Grumeti Reserve in Western Serengeti, which rolls over some 350,000 acres in this northern park ecology of Tanzania. Reminiscent of an opulent 1920s yesteryear styled hunter's camp, the Singita Sabora Camp is the ultimate choice for a top notch, indulgent and inspiring African tour.

AfricanMecca guests on their Tanzania vacation are welcomed to some of the most aesthetically spectacular tented accommodation in Serengeti: quietly sophisticated with every possible disguisable modern comfort made available to the discerning guest. On arrival, gorgeously romantic and delightfully indulgent, you are greeted by antique mahogany furnishings, crisp white linen, opulent Persian mats and silky draperies blowing in the breeze in each one of the beautifully appointed canvas rooms.

Yet, surrounded by the raw, untouched Serengeti, the Singita Sabora Tented Camp safari will exceed every expectation you have for your Serengeti tour. Right on the very doorstep of nature's finest offerings, guests can sit back and relax on the main terrace overlooking the waterhole, with a drink at sunset, watching the animals move in and out of their natural traversing territories, undisturbed.

The plains of Serengeti are home to a large group of carnivores. You will find lions, cheetahs, gazelles, zebras, hyenas, giraffes and many other diverse terrestrial fauna. From April to June, the time of the annual migration in the western corridor, you will enjoy the spectacular view of wildebeests traveling across the Serengeti. If one is inclined towards more subdued activities, guests can also enjoy bird watching, guided walks and balloon safaris that offer a bird’s eye view of the majestic plains.

Accommodation At Singita Sabora Tented Camp

With just 9 exceptionally-styled 1920s themed tents, each with its own sweeping terraced viewing deck, you can sink into handmade mahogany furniture, curl your feet up on the handmade Persian carpets, log into the wireless Internet in each room, with a glass of local vintage wine in hand, under the comfortable breeze of the air conditioning, and be awed and mesmerized as the wide open savannah of the Serengeti sweeps before you in a breathtaking panorama.

Each room is fitted with a full en suite bathroom, full valet and laundry services; no safari to Africa is complete without a refreshing and wild outdoor shower under the stars. In between activities, guests can relax in the library or the terraced deck, pick one of the rare or antique reading volumes and relax with a coffee in the reading lounge.

Safari At Singita Sabora Tented Camp

After an early morning wake-up taster of tea or coffee and biscuits, you set off for your morning Serengeti tour game activity. The evening game drives are organized in the late afternoon. Custom, open sided 4x4 vehicles offer you panoramic viewing during your western Serengeti game drives. Well-experienced, trained guides accompany and regale you with facts, observations, insights and snippets of information about the animals you will see.

Sometimes, radio contacts with other guides allow them to share animal tracking intelligence for unique and dynamic experiences to be able to trail out to the exact spot for maximal wildlife viewing experiences. The Western Corridor where Sabora is located sees the passing of the Great Annual Migration of the wildebeest, zebras and gazelle. Grumeti Reserves also has resident hoofed ungulates which populate it all through the year such as reedbuck, waterbuck, klipspringer, oribi, eland, topi, Coke’s hartebeest and many more.

You may be able to see giraffes galloping, herds of elephants and buffaloes drinking along the Grumeti River populated with hippos and straight faced crocodiles. See up close the predators of the Serengeti, prides of lions, feline cheetahs, elusive leopards and opportunist hyenas; and sometimes the prized fauna mostly seen nocturnally such as aardwolves, jackals, servals, caracals, civets, genets, porcupines, pangolins and aardvarks. The 400+ species of birds will completely amaze you, from flightless ostriches to heaviest flying bustards.

You may also see the Grey Crested Helmet-shrike, Fischer’s Lovebird, Rufus-Tailed Weaver, Karamoja Apalis and the Grey-Breasted Spurfowl, to name a few. Take a vacation to Tanzania for a glimpse of the many faces of Africa. And remember, your visit will also help in the conservation of this dazzling wilderness and its many inhabitants. Other activities on your AfricanMecca tour you can experience are walking safaris, ballooning over the Serengeti, equestrian horse riding safaris.

Dining At Singita Sabora Tented Camp

The varied dining areas are breathtakingly romantic where dinner can be served beneath the bendy branches of a huge ''Sausage Tree" under the sky carpet of sweeping African stars illuminating in the moonlight, with soft lamp lights showing the way, and an intoxicating chorus of the sounds coming deep from the African wildlands. The Sabora dining experience is all about ensuring that you want absolutely everything when it comes to the mouth-watering dishes prepared and served through the day -- you better come with a hearty appetite.

As dawn breaks, AfricanMecca guests are roused with the fragrant smells of freshly brewed Tanzanian coffee and tea complemented with freshly baked rusks and taster biscuits. Your safari guide will discuss the day's schedule before you head out for an early morning game drive in a custom 4x4. An early morning game drive is a must on a Tanzania tour activity, and perfect for catching up with the Great Migration (season dependent) as the masses of herds gallop across the plains, with all the predatory drama of the African wild coming to life right before your very own eyes.

You return to camp to the welcome sight of hot breakfast being prepared in an indoor bush kitchen, with everything from styled omelets, toasts, freshly baked cakes, fruit and cheese platters, waffles, potatoes, bacon, cereals, tea and coffee. Lunch is served on generous platters after you have had the chance to enjoy a quiet siesta after a guided bush walk on the Tanzanian plains with an experienced armed walking guide, or a relaxing treatment in the on-site relaxing spa.

Afternoon tea and sun downers - a glass of wine or a cocktail - can be taken at the pool side or on the sweeping terrace, perfect for enjoying the cooler temperature of a balmy day while on any Africa travel experience. A full silver service feast is served to guests after an early evening game drive giving a chance to see the animals as they make their way to the watering holes in the cool of the oncoming sunset.
