GUIDE ON KISIMA NGEDA TENTED CAMP IN LAKE EYASI

Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Kisima Ngeda Tented Camp

As you travel with your AfricanMecca guide along a dirt road in a rural part of Tanzania, you cannot possibly imagine that a quaint and charming camp lies just ahead. Kisima Ngeda Tented Camp is a budget-friendly accommodation that is situated in an isolated region on the banks of Lake Eyasi. From the moment you arrive until you say your "farewells," you are welcomed with unpretentious hospitality of the staff and owners. You may also notice that the staff takes great pride in maintaining this lovely place for you to discover the pristine beauty of Lake Eyasi.

Kisima Ngeda Tented Camp has very few guest tents, so you receive personalized service, including complimentary laundry service each day in this remote part of northern Tanzania. Second only to your Lake Eyasi safari activities are lounging next to the aqua blue swimming pool, stunning sunsets that are reflected in the lake, delightful antics of the bats near the dining area and other unique experiences that make Kisima Ngeda Tented Camp a memorable part of your cultural holiday tour in Africa.

You may also feel satisfied with the knowledge that the camp supports the local communities through staffing, promotion of local arts and purchase of produce and other ingredients, as well as ethnic tours that take you to local villages. As a part of your folk tour, you may meet some of the nomadic Hadzabe Bushmen in the area, and even spend the day gathering fruits and roots or hunting using traditional techniques.

Accommodation At Kisima Ngeda Tented Camp

For your Kisima Ngeda Tented Camp tour, you choose one of 7 large guest tents, each with views of Lake Eyasi. The guest tents offer you an authentic bush experience without sacrificing the basic necessities during your safari travel with AfricanMecca (read more on where else to stay in Lake Eyasi on your East African safari).

The subtle earth tones of the decor and native design elements complement the natural setting of Lake Eyasi, and the hand-crafted furnishings inside your tent include bed, nightstand, lamp, clothes rack, to name a few of the most prominent pieces, and the in-tent bathroom area has a sink, flush toilet and shower. Your tent is cooled by the breezes, and guest tents do not have fans.

Outside, your private veranda is furnished with comfortable seating and a small table where you enjoy the views of Lake Eyasi. When you choose to venture out of your tent to explore the camp property, you will be gratified with the existence of a sparkling swimming pool in this remote area, the perfect place to refresh yourself after a morning exploration tour of Lake Eyasi and escape the warmth of the African afternoon.

Lake Eyasi is a highlight of your stay, and all of the common areas, including the dining area and lounge, have wonderful views of the alkaline lake. The common outdoor areas are also perfectly suited for watching the spectacular sunsets over Lake Eyasi and the highlands, meeting other guests and relaxing with a cocktail from the bar.

Safari At Kisima Ngeda Tented Camp

The unique setting of Kisima Ngeda Camp invites you to explore the lake and surrounding area. As with many water sources in Tanzania, precipitation in the region affects Lake Eyasi, which may range from partially dry to high-water fills during the rains. These conditions not only affect the type of fauna and flora that you may see during your nature tour of Africa, but also transform the landscape (read more on when is the best time to visit Lake Eyasi in Tanzania).

At times, you may be able to slowly drive through the dry or semi-dry lakebed, and at other times the lake may be filled with diverse avian-life, such as flamingo, pelican, stork and many others. You may also see mammals of diverse sizes, such as plump hippos, chattering monkeys and many more. The viewing platform at the camp allows you to observe the wildlife activity at the lake, but nothing compares to a leisurely walk to the lake with an experienced and knowledgeable AfricanMecca guide.

Your guide not only takes you to the lake, but also enlightens you about smaller denizens that you may miss, tracking techniques and medicinal uses of the flora. With unique distinctive cultures thriving in the area around Lake Eyasi, you may choose to learn more about the native tribes of the Hadzabe (aka as Wahadzabe or Hadze) and Datoga during your culture tour in northern Tanzania.

Ethnic tours take you to their local villages to learn about the tribes' traditions, beliefs and customs, as well as their struggle to maintain their way of life in a modern world. The Hadze people are hunter and gatherers while the Datoga are pastoralists and farmers too in the recent times.

Dining At Kisima Ngeda Tented Camp

Locally-sourced produce, meats and dairy are used to create a menu of local and international dishes to help you maintain your energy and stave off your hunger during your quest-full trip to Lake Eyasi. Meals are served in the dining area, and you may request picnic lunches for your day's activities. For breakfast, the palatable food cooked-to-order may include porridge, eggs, cereal, fresh fruit, toast, jams, honey and much more.

With your appetite satisfied, you may then explore Lake Eyasi (view map) or the surrounding villages before returning to camp for a lunch of meats, vegetables, fruits and much more. As the evening settles in, visit the bar to order your favorite cocktail, then find a relaxing place to watch the gorgeous sunset before dinner. You may choose to sit in a private area or join guests and staff around the campfire to talk about your wild safari voyages in Africa.

For dinner, entrée soup and a selection of local meats, poultry, fish, vegetables and many other options are offered, including soft beef filets (mignon). You also have the opportunity to sample regional wines and beers during this culinary vacation pursuit in Tanzania, as well as international choices, or you may prefer soft drinks, fruit juices, coffee or tea. If you have special dietary needs or would simply like to have a specific meal, you may arrange this prior to your travel via AfricanMecca so that the chef is able to accommodate you during your stay at Kisima Ngeda.
