MARA NABOISHO CONSERVANCY

Want To Safari In Naboisho In Masai Mara? Scroll Down For Details..

MARA NABOISHO IN NORTHERN MASAI MARA

Mara Naboisho Conservancy bordering the northeastern section of the reserve is the second largest conservancy in the Masai Mara ecosystem. Naboisho as locally known was established in 2010 when 425 Maasai landowners set aside a total of 50,000 acres. The private conservancy benefits from guest experiences in this Kenya’s southwestern outback by generating revenue through accommodations and park fees.

The conservancy creates a buffer zone within the ecosystem that is shared by Masai Mara National Reserve. The presence of the Mara Naboisho ensures that the wildlife protection that is present in the reserve extends to the outer areas of the reserve. By doing this, the conservancy extends the efforts of the reserve into critically-important migration corridors and shared habitats.

While staying in the conservancy, AfricanMecca guests have the pleasure of seeing the same animals that are witnessed during tours of the public reserve. Common species include elephants, giraffes, gazelles, hippos, impalas, zebras and other herbivores, as well as lions, cheetahs, hyenas, leopards and other hunters.

The conservancy also protects many rare species, so our discerning lodgers may occasionally see caracals, aardvarks, aardwolves, serval cats, honey badgers and other threatened animals. Birdwatching is a fulfilling and satisfying safari activity within the conservancy. You may sight varied rollers, eagles, falcons, hornbills, shrikes, weavers and other much-desired avi-fauna.

Revenue from the conservancy promotes the livelihoods of local peoples through healthcare, employment, local schools, clean water, women’s projects and other community projects. In following best practices of low density experiences at Mara Naboisho, the conservancy has 50 rooms (1 room per over 1000 acres) in between six-member accommodations i.e. Kicheche Valley Camp, Ol Seki Mara Camp, Encounter Mara, Naboisho Camp, Basecamp Eagle View and Basecamp Wilderness.
