AUTHENTIC SAFARIS & PERSONALIZED TOURS IN LAKE BOGORIA WITH AFRICANMECCA
Joining these elegant feathered visitors are more than 373 recorded avi-fauna species, including approximately 50 migratory species, making Bogoria one of the most bird-rich regions amongst Kenya’s Important Bird Areas. On the shores and in the shallow water watch for curlew sandpipers, great tits, little bee-eaters, marabou storks, white cattle egrets, dikkops, ruffs and many other waterfowls. The eggs and chicks of these species and other food sources provide nourishment for an astonishing number of eagles, from tawny, steppe to fish and other magnificent raptors. Your AfricanMecca guide points out fresh water sources where rock klipspringers, warthogs, zebras, impalas and other herbivores drink. One of Africa’s most iconic and rare antelopes – the greater kudu – is typically found on the northeastern shore of the lake. The presence of spotted hyenas, serval cats, genets, mongoose and other predators round out your East African game-spotting tour. The crevices and outcrops are home to monitor lizards, tortoises, agama lizards and other reptiles. Black mamba, puff adder, spitting cobra and other snakes have also been recorded in the park. More than 45,000 people live around the reserve, and your visit to the Endorois Community Cultural Center includes traditional dances, food and other insightful activities to learn about the diverse tribes of Kenya. The programs benefit conservation and preservation efforts to protect the natural and cultural treasures found near Lake Bogoria (read more on where to stay).

BEST TIME TO VISIT LAKE BOGORIA
For the most part, the dry and wet seasons in Lake Bogoria mirrors what is common in other areas of Kenya. Some years, though, the reserve has an unusual pattern of long rains in July and August.
