GUIDE ON SAMBURU SERENA SAFARI LODGE IN KENYA

Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Samburu Serena Safari Lodge

Even as you arrive at the Samburu Serena Safari Lodge on your dream AfricanMecca holiday in northern Kenya, you will be enchanted by its architectural theme that captures the very essence of Africa. The reception is adorned by carved Samburu traditional forms and everywhere you look, painted art patterns on the walls and relics, masks and spears in every nook fill you with wonder at their beauty. This deluxe lodge is hidden in a grove of acacia trees beside the Ewaso Nyiro River and seems to merge into its natural surroundings. Built of stone with sloping roofs, the main building has two floors and includes an expansive lounge with sitting furniture organized in a block layout. The Kiboko Bar serves drinks here and the two-level dining area overlooks the meandering brown of the river. Individual cottages house the 62 rooms the lodge has. The cottages have tiled roofs that slope down almost to the ground and are laid out in well-landscaped gardens overlooking the river (read more on where else to stay in Samburu on your Kenyan safari). Few of the rooms have a wooden tree trunk design on the walls while others have woven bamboo mats with diaphanous nets as ceiling details. Choose from rooms with double or twin beds and the attached bathrooms come with shower stalls and average quality toiletries that bear the Serena brand. Patios outside the cottages have deck chairs to relax in, but you might find that a couple of vervet monkeys have already staked their claim on your vantage point and are lying draped on the patio wall. You could also head to the swimming pool for a cooling dip or an afternoon of leisure in the lounge chairs and sunbeds around it.

Have your meals in the al-fresco dining area beside the pool if not in the lodge dining area. Dinners are magical meals when some of the lights illuminate the river and you can watch as herds of elephants visit the river to drink. You might also spot an elusive leopard as you dine on a selection of intercontinental and traditional Kenyan meals, known for their spiced flavors from the Swahili coast. Splendid dishes reminiscent of yesteryear tours in East Africa are also served accompanied by barbecued fare. If you were to request room service, a special table would be set up for you outside your room in the lawn where you can have a quiet, private meal. Samburu National Reserve is famous for its own special five creatures that are rare to other parts of Kenya. They are the Beisa oryx, Somalia ostrich with its grey-blue coloring, long-necked gerenuk, reticulated giraffe and Grevy’s zebra. On your game driving trips, your knowledgeable, experienced AfricanMecca guide will talk to you about varied fauna and their behaviors, and also track/point to you predators like cheetahs, wild dog, leopards, lions, crocodiles and more. Samburu also hosts more than 450 avian species and birdwatching expeditions are a must-do on your wilderness vacation in Africa. Also go on nature walks, camel rides or visit the nearby Samburu village for a cultural experience. You could shop for curios at their market to support rural enterprises or return to the lodge’s store for later selections. Remember, proceeds from the boutique support the local artisans.  Stay over at the Samburu Serena Lodge on your safari travel in Kenya for a thrilling wildlife viewing adventure interspersed with moments of tranquility and relaxation.
