PAPILLON LAGOON REEF IN MOMBASA
Diani Beach is well known as one of the most dazzling seaside in Kenya and the Papillon Lagoon Reef is a good budget accommodation located on it. A part of the South Coast and accessible from Mombasa by taking the Likoni Ferry, this beach resort is constructed using Swahili architecture designs and is set amidst a lush garden with tropical vegetation that abounds with baobab trees and Colobus monkeys. While the Papillon Lagoon offers you the basic rooming amenities you might need on your relaxing beach holiday in Kenya, it also does not have a television or Wi-Fi service, a genuine vacation contribution to a complete detox from electronics. However, telephone services are available in your room. Electricity might not be available 24 hours during power outages or intentional power rationing. The staff are very friendly and take attentive care of your needs with warm smiles. The resort offers air-conditioned rooms in three different specifications for guests on a seashore tour of Mombasa with AfricanMecca, and you can choose a room accordingly. If you are a family of four, a couple travelling with two kids or four friends, then the Family Rooms are ideal for you. These rooms, 16 in all, have four beds and face the hotel's garden. The 110 Garden Rooms face the garden or the pool and have three beds that a family of a couple and a child or three adults can use. You can ask for single, double or twin beds. The 24 Beach-Front Rooms face the ocean and two adults can stay comfortably in them. The resort can put up a Swahili-style sofa on which a child can sleep. The rooms have a ceiling fan and the beds have mosquito nets for your protection. Safe deposit boxes are also available, but they are chargeable.
You can order drinks in your room, but this service is available only from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm and you will have to pay for room service even though you are on all-inclusive meal/drink plan. The basic bathrooms have showers and hair dryers you can use. Depending on the floor where your room is located, it will have a balcony or a patio. Fridges are included only in the Beach-Front Rooms. Many of the hotel's rooms are interconnected so if family and friends are with you on your seaside trip to Africa, you could opt for them. The Papillion Lagoon Reef includes meals in your room tariff. They also include select cocktails, beer, wine, soft drinks, spirits and mineral water. You can have a buffet breakfast, lunch and evenings snacks at the Bistro Bar and Restaurant during fixed hours. They also serve you barbecued dishes on some evenings and the cultural entertainment programs are usually scheduled after dinner. However, non-house drinks, snacks, room service and a la carte dishes are chargeable. Dinners are served in the Baobab Restaurant at fixed times between 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm. The resort requires that you dress in a smart casual outfit for dinner. You can swim up to the Pool Bar for your drinks while the Beach Bar is a seashore drinks outlet. While the resort includes facilities for tennis, you have to pay for nighttime hourly floodlight usage. While at the hotel, you can opt to visit Shimba Hills for the day or even Tsavo East for an overnight safari at Satao Camp. Choose the Papillon Lagoon Reef for a budget beach vacation on the serene Indian Ocean with AfricanMecca.
