GUIDE ON OL TUKAI LODGE IN KENYA
Ol Tukai Lodge is a value accommodation situated on the great elephant plains and swampy surrounds in Kenya’s Amboseli National Park. Described by some as “a home for the Gods,” Ol Tukai gives you front row seats to a natural display of elephant behavior. In the distance, clouds hang low over the iconic shape of Africa’s highest mountain -- Mount Kilimanjaro. The landscape of Amboseli Park is the perfect setting for your photographic safari in Kenya with AfricanMecca where you may see plains prey from wildebeests, zebras, impalas, giraffes and many more of Africa’s most sought after herbivorous fauna, all followed by stalking canines from hyenas, lions, cheetah, leopards and more. The finest picturesque shot will be an elephant on the foreground with the clear views of the mighty Kilimanjaro as a backdrop. The 80-room lodge offers you a renewed holiday ambience that you may not expect to find so close to the African wilderness, and the décor is tastefully styled with traditional African artwork, native wood design elements and modern amenities. Facilities at the lodge include a buffet restaurant, two bars, swimming pool and conference area. You can feel confident in your budget choice to stay at Ol Tukai Lodge during your family African wilderness vacation in Amboseli National Park as children are always welcome. The staff can add extra beds to your room and the restaurant has a children’s menu. One of the most exciting parts of your child’s adventure-filled trip to East Africa, though, is sure to be listening intently to traditional folk stories told by a local Maasai warrior or showing the artifices of the bush i.e. starting a fire or spear throwing etc.
Picturesque views from your room or private terrace of Mount Kilimanjaro or the plains await you when you stay at Ol Tukai Lodge. The guest rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious, and each has a private bathroom. To save on the lodge operation costs, the electricity is shut off at night, so we recommend that you bring a flashlight. Your AfricanMecca safari activities are pre-scheduled on fly in safari, so you should awaken early to have a small breakfast before boarding the 4x4 safari vehicle with your guide and other guests. The guides are fairly good at locating wildlife so your bush travel in Kenya may include one of the most spectacular wildlife events in Africa – the cheetah or lion kill. Cheetahs are the fastest land animals on the planet, and surprisingly, the hunt begins with slow, methodical stalking. When she spots her prey, she bounds from the vegetation and captures an impala or a small wildebeest calf. This is only one of the breathtaking, heart-pounding sights that you will see as you travel across the open plains of Amboseli National Park. You are sure to build an appetite for the palatable outdoor lunch that is ready when you return to the lodge. The park is also a magnificent destination for birding tours in Africa, as more than 425 species have been identified. The lodge’s own ornithologist guides you around the lodge property, and helps you locate and identify avi-fauna. Upon request, you can enjoy a sunset cocktail before sitting down for an adequate dinner local, western and vegetarian dishes and a post-meal performance by Maasai dancers before retiring to bed.
