Olakira Camp - Tanzania - Serengeti Safaris

Olakira Camp is a mobile tented camp that moves through the Serengeti, following the Great Migration, one of the world's natural wonders. The camp is in Ndutu from 10 December until the end of March, the magical period during which the Great Migration takes over the Ndutu plains to give birth to their next generation.  It moves up to the central Serengeti for the months of June and July, when the Migration is in this area.  In these months, Olakira Camp can be combined with a balloon flight in the central Serengeti. From August 1 to November 30, the camp is in Soit Sambu, an exclusive concession in the north-eastern part of the Serengeti eco-system, just outside the Serengeti and very close to the Klein's Gate.

A stay in Olakira Camp combines perfectly with a stay in
Sayari Camp.  Combined, the two camps offer the unique combination of top wildlife viewing in the prime areas, combined with a fabulous experience in the private areas, away from the crowds, where walking safaris, night driving, fly camping and cultural tours (Maasai, Wakuria) can be enjoyed.

The
Serengeti hosts the largest concentration of wildlife in the world, thought to be more than 3 million, and is home to one of the great wonders in the world, the Great Migration. Over a million of wildebeest move annually from the southern plains, where they give birth, to the Masai Mara in the north, and back, accompanied by Zebra and other migratory mammals. Lion, cheetah, hyena, hunting dog and crocodiles make sure only the strongest survive.

African Safari Culinary and Dining Experience At Olakira Camp, A Luxury Mobile Camp Located In Serengeti Tanzania

Central to the Olakira camp are two common tents that are open to the surrounding nature.  When multiple small groups occupy the camp, one tent will serve as a dining tent and the other one as a lounge, where drinks are served and safari stories are shared.
When a somewhat larger group (e.g., 8 people) visits in the camp, one of the common tents can be made the exclusive lounging/dining tent for that group. The other tent will then be set up as a lounging/dining tent for the other guests of the camp.
Superb tasty meals are served in the dining tent or in a private location:  your own veranda or under the Serengeti stars.

African Safari Activities When Staying At Olakira Camp, A Luxury Mobile Camp Located In Serengeti National Park Tanzania

Game Drives & Photography: The Serengeti is fantastic for extended game drives and wildlife photography.  On top of game driving, the Soit Sambu locations allows for walking safaris, night driving, fly camping and cultural tourism (Maasai, Wakuria).  When Olakira Camp is in the Ndutu area, a stay can very well be combined with a stay in its sister camp Sayari Camp, that is located in the Gol Mountains at that same period.  The Gol Mountains location of Sayari Camp allows for the same exciting activities as the Soit Sambu location. The combination of Sayari Camp allows for the opportunity to go fly camping and join walking safari. When Olakira Camp is in Ndutu, these activities can be undertaken from Sayari Camp's Piaya/Gol Mountains location.  When the camp is in Soit Sambu, in the Loliondo area, (longer) walking safaris, fly camping and night driving can be undertaken from Olakira Camp.

Fly Camping: Fly camping is a wonderful way to sleep under the stars and enjoy the pure tranquility and raw excitement of the bush. Ten foot square tents made of heavy duty mosquito mesh ensure that you are close to nature but apart from only bugs. Fly camping in the Serengeti eco-system is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The freedom of movement, the intimacy of the light camp and the thrill of being so close to nature is the pinnacle of many guests' safaris. Your fly camp is light enough to move easily and strike quickly, but still retains the everyday luxuries that it characterizes hot showers, comfortable bedding and cold drinks served with gourmet food.

Walking Safari: Walking in the bush is an unforgettable safari experience that brings you the feeling of really being part of the nature around you. Wildlife is frequently encountered, but the sheer beauty of the nature or true interaction with local cultures can be just as rewarding!  Walking safaris from Sayari can differ in length and pace according to you choice; the emphasis can be on taking it slowly and having time to smell flowers or on chasing animal trails into the unknown. Walking safaris can be combined with fly camping to give guests the ultimate safari experience: walking into your own private camp where food and drinks await you - after a day of walking through majestic Serengeti Plains. Walking safaris are professionally guided. Vehicle pick-up and drop off if required. Walkie-talkie radios allow contact with vehicles and camps.
