Olakira Camp - Tanzania - Serengeti Safaris
Olakira Camp is a mobile tented camp that moves through the Serengeti, following the Great Migration, one of the world's natural wonders. The camp is in Ndutu from 10 December until the end of March, the magical period during which the Great Migration takes over the Ndutu plains to give birth to their next generation. It moves up to the central Serengeti for the months of June and July, when the Migration is in this area. In these months, Olakira Camp can be combined with a balloon flight in the central Serengeti. From August 1 to November 30, the camp is in Soit Sambu, an exclusive concession in the north-eastern part of the Serengeti eco-system, just outside the Serengeti and very close to the Klein's Gate.
A stay in Olakira Camp combines perfectly with a stay in Sayari Camp. Combined, the two camps offer the unique combination of top wildlife viewing in the prime areas, combined with a fabulous experience in the private areas, away from the crowds, where walking safaris, night driving, fly camping and cultural tours (Maasai, Wakuria) can be enjoyed.
The Serengeti hosts the largest concentration of wildlife in the world, thought to be more than 3 million, and is home to one of the great wonders in the world, the Great Migration. Over a million of wildebeest move annually from the southern plains, where they give birth, to the Masai Mara in the north, and back, accompanied by Zebra and other migratory mammals. Lion, cheetah, hyena, hunting dog and crocodiles make sure only the strongest survive.
