I am Michele Jones. I am a physician. I am actually the Medical Director of Easton Hospital's Occupational Health Department and I took a trip of a lifetime. One of my best friend's asked me many months ago whether or not I wanted to got to Africa, and believe it or not, that is one of the destinations I always wanted to go to. I have talked about since I was a child, and when I told my brother I was going, he laughed and said "well, you are finally getting to go on your dream vacation", and in fact it was!
I was, as a physician, very concerned about my welfare while I was there, whether or not I would get Malaria and all other sorts of herbamalities, and none of those things occurred. I have to say that the whole organization of the trip was wonderful. I actually took a back seat in that. My best friend did most of the organization, and AfricanMecca made that responsibility much less of a hardship so to speak because they mapped everything out for us.
The pre-arrangements were just absolutely great. They actually even came to my house, and went over all the details, took as much time as was needed to answer all the group's questions. It was actually six of us that went. Everyone had their own questions about what we needed to pack, what we needed to do, and they were all answered. Definitely, this got us in the right direction as far as not packing too much, what to pack, and just telling us to do a little reading on the different activities we were doing when we over there, make sure we would enjoy them even more, and that was definitely helpful.
The trip was just phenomenal. I was a little bit concerned about being in the air so long, and that wasn't really a big problem. I just got to get into the plane, laid back, and waited for everything to be taken care when we got there, and in fact it was. They really left no stone unturned as far making sure that we felt safe and got to each destination. It was packed-filled trip. We went from one destination to another, and everything went smoothly so that we could actually see as much as possible during the time frame, which was around ten days in total for us.
The part that I liked the best was the just awesome scenery. Kenya is absolutely a wonderful destination. It's a destination that just makes you actually want to take as many pictures as possible so don't forget how beautiful it is. From the mountains you can see, including Mount Kilimanjaro to the beautiful sunsets and sunrises, and most importantly the animals - being able to see the elephants close up, seeing a cheetah with its young - with a fresh kill just spine tingling, actually. I just found that everything about the trip was great, and I really soon forget about any the fears I had about mosquito bites and Malaria, because all the accommodations were just great and we were well protected from any problems that we thought that could possibly be a problem.
Probably, the best was interacting with our group. It just really made for a great experience. We all had different things we though we would experience there including tasting of all the different types of food we had. The food was just phenomenal. I couldn't believe it! Really, the best food I ever had any vacation I went on, and that is saying something since I am kind of a picky eater. No problems with that. No problems with worry about having to get bottled water or all those other things you may think about when going to Africa.
I think that this is a vacation that everyone should be able to experience, and it is a vacation that can be well planned, can be affordable, and be the trip of a lifetime, and that is saying something because I have been on vacations before, I have experienced different things, and this is definitely top notch, A vacation I would like to repeat again going to Kenya or I'd like climb Mount Kilimanjaro so that might be the next step for me, going back and doing that, and I have to say that AfricanMecca did an absolutely wonderful job of preparing us, making sure we felt we comfortable, making sure we had the time of our life, and making sure we got to see as much as possible in the period of time we were there.
