Bisanadi, North Kitui, Rahole National Reserves & Kora National Park

The Bisanadi, North Kitui and Rahole National Reserves and Kora National Park form protective ecosystem to the east and south of Meru National Park allowing Meru National Park's wildlife more freedom of movement at the same time restricting human encroachment. (Such a buffer ecosystem is quite common in East Africa, one particularly existent in Tanzania at Ruaha National Park.)

All four sanctuaries: Bisanadi, North Kitui and Rahole National Reserves and Kora National Park are under-developed; roads are virtually non-existent and even access is limited. Kora was the last home of the celebrated George Adamson, Bwana Game, where he continued his work on the rehabilitation of lions until his death in 1989.
