Samburu Lodge
We stayed here for two days back in 1986. It was one of the most awesome experiences of my life. Watching the lodge personnel feed the crocs a meal of chickens with only a 2 foot high wall between us and them was wild. We also had the privlidge of seeing a Leopard in the tree across the river. Oh, when they tell you "do not try to touch any of the animals" follow their advice. One British gent told the workers "I'll pet them if I bloody well please!" He did and found out very quickly that they bite... hard... and you bleed... bad. Needless to say, we ALL listened after that.

In 1984 I was on safari in Kenya and we spent a most memorable night on the river at Samburu Lodge. I have shown my slide show of that trip hundreds of times in the last twenty years and the biggest highlight is the photos of the crocodiles eating the bait right next to the bar and river deck. Incredible! This lodge is quintessential Africa....don't miss it!

Samburu Lodge
I cannot praise this hotel enough! It is dropped in the middle of nowhere by the river and is so peaceful. It blends in with its surroundings perfectly. The rooms were comfortable and clean, but expect your bath water to be brown! This is normal, by-the-way, in most safari lodges! There are no fences here so expect baboon, monkeys, gennet cats, monitors and crocodiles to visit. Elephants arrive across the river everyday and occasionally a leopard. They feed the crocodiles every night.I recommend going on the bird walk with Jacob if you get a chance. We saw lions, elephants, impala, dik-diks, guinea-fowl, cheeta and much more on the game drive. Food was practicaly a la carte and served at your table. Good for veggies too. Don't miss out on this experience!!

Samburu Lodge
A great place to stay, the staff are superb, we have been three times now and the staff always remember us and make us feel so welcome. They baked a special cake for us one time to thank us for staying so long. Guests usually pass through quickly, but we stayed for a whole week! The rooms are well furnished and all face the river, which is teeming with wildlife. The clean pool, is very welcoming after game drives. The food is also very good and varied.

Excellent - just the right combination of luxury and nature. Food very good, staff highly attentive. Accommodation very satisfactory - the crocodile 25 yds from our front door just made it for us!

We visited in 2004, the lodge was great, lots of wildlife within the grounds, the staff were brilliant. The park itself was stunning we saw so many different species, inc a young male lion next to a giraffe kill, the scenery is lovely, would definately like to go back.

We stayed at Samburu lodge for the first time this year. I've been traveling to Kenya for 10 years. We found this lodge affordable and nice. The best thing was all the wildlife right around the lodge. Herds of elephants in the river, Waterbuck drinking, Impala and lots of birds right on the "lawn" and two nights my husband woke up to find Cape Buffalo right next to our porch! Samburu can be warm and having 24 hour electricity with a fan at night made sleeping a little easier than the tented camps that are on a generator. Only down side is it's a little large and the bar etc. can be somewhat crowded.

Samburu Lodge
This accommodation is "Not fit for purpose". It is being extensively renovated and all the public rooms – reception, dining room/bar area, etc. are in open-sided plastic tents with plastic sheeted floors (except for the bare floored bar). Rain leaked in and the floors were awash with mud which the staff were unable to keep clear. There are trenches throughout the area, which have to be crossed by 3 four-inch wide planks. This would close the site in Britain for Health and Safety reasons.

We went to Kenya on our honeymoon and this was the best lodge we stayed in. The staff were so friendly and did absolutely everything to make our stay the most enjoyable. The food was excellent. We cannot say a bad word about this lodge, it was amazing.

My Wife and I stayed at the Samburu Lodge for 2 nights at the beginning of a week long safari holiday covering the length of Kenya. The lodge and its' facilities are excellent and offer evrything you could wish for given the reason you are there is to see wildlife. You have every opportunity to relax by the pool, the food is excellent and the accomodation is comfortable thus providing a good nights sllep in preperation for the next days early rise for the safari. An all round good holiday experience never to be forgotten

Samburu Lodge is a lovely lodge on the side of a river in the middle of the Samburu National Reserve. It is a very African lodge, simple and attractive. The food was amazing, staff friendly and welcoming and the wildlife was amazing. Looking at crocodiles at nighttime, keeping a lookout for the leopard. And the monkeys providing entertainment during meals. A brilliant lodge.

Hi... We traveled in 2007 for a photographic safari to Kenya. Samburu was our first location. It was great! We saw cheetahs, lots of lions, leopards, elephants crossing the river, a lot of different birds - you name it! Staying at Samburu Lodge next to Ewaso Ng'iro was perfect. The roar of lions and the sight of crock in the evening took us into the real Africa. Best of all we got a lot of high quality photographs! The guide and weather was perfect - what a great place to start a safari! Alf Jacob and Lise Nilsen, Norway

We only stayed at Samburu Lodge for three nights but really enjoyed it. The room and food were excellent and as a bonus we were visited by an elephant who crossed the river and came straight over to our "cottage room". The staff were very polite and helpful.
