Saltlick Lodge - Neat Tsavo
A place like no other , so wonderful that we have been six times. I place where you can stand so close to wild elephant that you can see, hear & smell such majestic beasts. The lodge itself is so amazing in design that it stands out from the rest. The rooms are spotless & very comfortable and the showers are so welcoming after a day being covered in the red dust of Tsavo. The food is great with a wide range being offered, and the Tusker beer is so cold, oh and the cocktails were fab with my wife's favourite being the 'Bubbly Baboon'. A place that really does get under you skin, one visit will never be enough.

I have travelled all over Kenya, in fact, all over the world and to this day, memories of our stay at Salt Lick makes me yearn to return. Its a beautiful lodge, wonderful food, fantastic service and the game drives are fabulous! Its impossible to have a bad time here!

In June 2001, I came to Kenya for the 1st time and along with 2 new friends had a wonderful 2day visit to your lodge. In Dec 02,We stayed at Shelly Beach and encouraged 4 guests and with our daughter and us [totalling 7] visited the lodge. 2 of the guests Mr& Mrs Webster were celebrating their ruby wedding anniversary. Mr Webster is disabled as, I am myself. On our arrival on Dec 2nd, my partner and me and the Websters were allotted rooms at the extreme far end of the lower passage... totally unsuitable.. and our other 2 abled guests were located very near to the central building. We asked to be relocated nearer to the central building, not realising that this was a smaller room ..and though requesting and paying full cost for our 15yr daughter for a separate room......... we were told she had to share our room .... saying we could either have the LARGE ROOM AT THE END OF THE PASSAGE OR A NEARER ROOM WITH A SINGLE BED PLACED IN...BOTH VERY UNSUITABLE.. We took photographs and a video of this and complained, because, due to the extra bed- the table and chair had to be pushed up towards the window, making it extremely difficult to walk between this and our bed, also the bed was placed just after the wardrobe which left a very small area indeed to pass between the bed and the wall , the wall is an "artex finish" [rough white plaster] and I cut my arm and leg trying to get through, which I became very distressed with ,as, my disability is with my walking and my balance. I asked for the Manager, but, none, were available, I had arranged all these details, when we booked for this visit so it was either the large room WHICH i COULD NOT MANAGE TO WALK TO or A ROOM WITH NO ROOM TO WALK AROUND...if you check your availability on the 2nd Dec 02, you will see that the Lodge was not infact overcrowded ..whatsoever... and the staff did not seem to be concerned at all at our position, suggesting that we speak to the manager when he arrives...which was not till the next dayy.

I only stayed at the lodge for one night but I have to say that the place is truly magic. We saw elephants as well as antelope drinking from the lake whilst enjoying excellent food and superb views.

Salt Lick Lodge
We only stayed at the lodge one night, but what a night it was. Food was great and the views were breathtaking. We also spotted some elephants from the window of a room as well as gazzelles, etc. On the whole, an experience not to be missed!!

Salt Lick Lodge
The lodge was perfect, and the staff the meet your every needand it also had beautiful architecture. There were plenty of beautiful animals roaming around, and the watering hole in the back of the lodge was amazing. It was also amazing to see the animals roam up to the watering holes and drink the water. The animals didn't seem to care about the people taking pictures during the day.
