this place is awesome.
my family and i satyed at the lodge for one night to go on a safari focusing mainly on elephants. it was a real authentic experience as we were able to stay in tents. (but dont worry they were on wooden platforms with electricity, showers and all the mod cons). The chance of seeing the wildlife is high. definitely moe likely than the national parks in the west of kenya. meals were very nice and the people very friendly. at the lodge we had the opportunity to meet the maasai tribesmen and i was lucky enough to be able to take part in a dance with them. they have a small market where you can maasai gifts in the evening. |

We visited 3 years ago and it was fanstastic, you get really close to the elephants and learn so much about them. The staff are superb and we even had a poem written for us by one of the porters!!! What a fantastic place! |

I found the safari most impressive.
We had a great time and made some very good pictures of a great Elephant bull about 5-6 meters from our safari vehicle. We also saw a small group in the water and some warthogs with babies. We have visited the lodge and it looks fantastic. It must be a privilege to stay there. |

We visited mwaluganje on xmas day 2000. we enjoyed it emensly. there was only 4 of us there this night. and was brilliant. no crowds, because it was the millenium. it was so lush and green , plenty of water in rivers. huge groups of elephants right outside our tent. we dined overlooking the waterhole.what more could anyone ask for. pure nature. just the sounds of the wild animals. fantastic.the lodge was very good and was the food. & staff. also emus walking about outside your tent. the scenery in the park is stunning also. don't wait go now. were returning this december. 2005 |

My husband and I had a wonderful 3 nights at Mwaluganje from the 1st til 4th of June, 05. The last two nights we were the only guests there and we felt especially well cared for. We were awed by the numbers of birds and animals. We were fortunate to be there when the elephant families were coming through. It was fantastic to have the elephants, warthogs, baboons come to the water holes just below the dining veranda. The two Hamerkops with their massive nest, and the many lilac breasted rollers kept us entertained.
Our last night we had a special little visitor in the dining area--an adorable bush baby.
Dennis, Harusi and Moses were attentive to our every need, and there were others whose names I don't remember.
It was an experience we will always remember. |

It was an absolutley amazing experience! I came out on my gap year, and mwaluganje was incredible- being so close to the elephants, even hearing them eat at night! Its something that has to be experienced! it's one of the most amazing places, and words cannot describe it enough- you have to go! |

My family and I were very lucky to visit the camp when it had only just opened. We were the only guests, so everything was quiet and we had around 5 waiters each! During the night it was eerie, the noises of snuffling animals around the tents delighting us. The sky was the most beautiful we had ever seen it, as there was not light pollution whatsoever, it looked as if it would be almost impossible to make a pinprick amongst the millions of stars. Elephants wandered around the waterhole, and were so silent in their approach that it was only when their great bulk appeared from the bushes that you realised they were coming.
This is an amazing place, where the serice is second to none, and the food surperb. However, the most memorable thing for us was to be so close to the wildlife. I do hope it hasn't changed. |

So still I sat on wooden beamed verandah, lids closed against the heavy heat of eve. The sound of musty canvas flapped asunder, my thoughts were why I ever had to leave?
The lemon bush invaded all my senses,
an equatorial sun blasted my mind.
Dark Kenya stripped me of all my defences
and opened up a path for me to find.
The odour of the watering hole up yonder,
the constant buzz and hum of living free,
life in the raw, exciting, full of danger.
I realised the depth inside of me.
"Jambo Mama" floated past my ears beside me.
Two Masai dressed in striking red and blue.
Bedecked with beads and smiling bright with glee
So silent their approach, no brave debut.
For one had killed a lion on Masai Mara,
adorned with long red mane far down his back.
I thought what can I say to such a warrior
who holds inside so much of what I lack?
My constant guards so silently escorted
behind me all the while wher'ere I went.
In all my life I never felt so wanted
and all the fears I ever had were spent.
At fall of day I stood on the verandah
and freshly showered watched elephants passing by
they trumpeted "my country - you - the watcher!"
All I could do was heave an awesome sigh.
My night in Mwaluganje lives forever
amongst so many memories of the game
Perhaps I will return, it's my endeavour
My thought that it will never be the same. |
