|
I have been to Governors Camp several times - each time it was a life experience. The lodging is rough but comfortable and fitting. The food is fit for a king, and the safaris are always rewarding and comfortable in terms of length of trip. An absolutely wonderful experience. I hope to bring my wife again next year. |

I stayed at the camp just over two years ago after my sister had chosen this to be the setting of her wedding.
If I were to go into detail about how fantastic it was, I would be here for hours! I will say that it was the most magical and unforgettable experience I will ever have. Woken up with hot chocolate, my parafin lamp lit for me and my shower run hot, all before 6am! Amazing food, wildlife and above all, people. The staff were brilliant, from the chef's, guides, managers and guards. I loved being escorted from my tent to the eating area when dark and encountered animals on the way. I'll never forget waking up one night, looking out of the mesh window and seeing an elephant ambling past although nothing beat the baby hippo on my porch most mornings (not easy to leave your tent!)

We have stayed in this camp in 2000 and 2001. They are superb with good food and excellent accommodation. The tents are luxurious, particularly if, like us, you have the chance to experience one of the extra large double beds generally available only at the Private camp or Il Moran.
They benefit also from the locality where there is a profusion of game close by. |

Governors Camp was my first safari experience in Africa. I was so taken be the beauty of the country, it's people and wildlife that it felt like home immediately.
To pick just one aspect of the camp to say was my favorite would not be fair. I made friends with the staff and other travelers and the two warthogs that call the camp home.
Our game drives resulted in more knowledge than I could retain of the land, animals and people. And many, many wonderful pictures.
It's a given to take a camera and lots of film (I took 40 rolls of film for 18 days.) But my next trip I will be taking a tape recorder and lots of tapes. To record information, night sounds and the music and entertainment in the evenings.
One can not say enough about the rustic beauty of this camp and the elegant service provided by the gracious staff. |

and in the Whitesands hotel for 3 weeks. It was the most exciting hoiday I ever had. Masai Mara I never felt so small in my life, being among the moste beautiful animals. If the people of Kenya look after their

We have just returned from Masai Mara and staying at Governor's Camp. The expeience is one we will not forget. We have done many safaris but this one is one we will not forget. So many wonderful expeiences firstly flying past Mount Kilamanjaro was breathtaking then landing in the Mara and bieng able to see the animals from the air on landing we had lions at the end of the runway.
Governors Camp was beautiful the staff excellent. We even had a buffalo being chased by a lion run through the camp whilst we were eating breakfast thankfully the Buffalo escaped. The best bit was seeing the four Cheetahs from BBC's Big Cat Diarys and one day we even saw a cheetah climb onto the roof of a jeep just like in the programme.
I could go on for agaes but wont just to say if you have never been on a safari a flying in one is a MUST!!! Definately doing it again next year. |

I stayed at Governors Camp for 3 days I went with my family, and we have been to kenya 5 times and we love going on safaris we have been to Shimba Lodge which we liked very much, but when we went to Kenya in 2004 we were really looking forward to Governors Camp when we went there I thought to myself this is one of the best camps i have ever been to, and we are going there again this year, we will go to Governors Camp again we really enjoyes it. We stayed at the governors camp in september 2004. We arrived just in time to see the migration over the mara river,what a sight. I never expected to see all the animals i have been watching year after year on the big cat diary, but there they were, and if that wasnt enough so was the crew. I have travelled to Kenya on numerous occassions and stayed in many of the camps, but the governors made you feel so much closer to the wildlife. On a night i could'nt sleep with excitement, the monkeys chasing each other, the hippos snorting ouside your tent with only canvas between you and the elephants just trudge through camp as though you're not there.The food was excellent and the staff made you feel so welcome. |

We went here after booking it at our hotel. we were on a magical trip anyway, as we got married in Kenya. But WOW! nothing prepared us for this. We were lucky enough to have the head driver, James, who was warm,knowledgable and as eager to for us to see the animals, as we were to see them.
We opted for the balloon safari too, with the champagne breakfast, but again, nothing prepare us for this. It was toatally awsome, and surreal, particularly breakfast. But I will let you find that out for yourself.
We are desperatly saving to return next year for my husbands 40th, and look forward to staying at the govenors again. |
