Only four spacious luxury cottages, each sited on its own cliff head with large open decks offer breath-taking views of the Indian Ocean.

The traditional Swahili style of Tijara cottages with carved doors and high makuti (coconut thatch) roofs is complimented by exclusively handcrafted Swahili furniture with ornate carvings and rich decoration; some of which was lovingly restored and some specially made by the local craftsmen.

Tijara Beach has an abundant variety of animal, bird and butterfly species which chose to frequent the Tijara grounds. The timid bush babies, dik-diks, wild pigs, monitor lizards, genet cats, magnificent fish-eagles, beautiful carmine and white throated bee eaters, kingfishers, herons, storks, ever busy night jars, of which the list can go on and on. Tijara has their own nursery which also supplies the trees for the community project.
