Wasini Island is located on the Southern coast of Kenya and is well known for the cultural Wasini Village as well the restaurant that serves fresh succulent seafood. Wasini is a miniature Lamu, in respect to its isolation from modernity, existence of the ruins from year years gone by and the presence of wasini cultural community settlement, the largest community, reputed to be dwellers that originally moved from the mainland for protection from slave traders and perhaps the authorities chasing the traders. A strong Arab influence has created a colorful, interesting community, steeped in history.
