Those opting to travel to Kenya are required to comply with the rules and regulations laid down by the government. You are required to apply for a Kenya Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before your arrival into Kenya. More details at https://www.etakenya.go.ke. We highly recommend you apply online for your ETA 6 weeks prior to arrival into Kenya.

The Kenya ETA system is a semi-automated process that checks the eligibility of visitors who want to travel to Kenya. It is a travel permission granted by the Government of the Republic of Kenya. Your safari consultant at AfricanMecca Safaris will do their utmost to advise you about any other information you may need.

Kenya provides an ETA to most visitors looking to travel in the country. It is prudent to obtain your ETA in advance and make sure your passport has a validity of six months from the date when you enter the country. This will allow you to tour Kenya without any delays or problems. Also, make sure that there are at least three unstamped pages in your passport when you request entry into Kenya.

All foreign visitors who wish to travel to Kenya, except for citizens of the EAC Member States, must obtain an ETA before their trip. The EAC Member States exempt are Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, Somalia, and South Sudan. The ETA application must be completed on the official website of the Government. Any applications submitted through other websites will be rejected. For minors under 18 years old, the application must be filled by their parent, legal guardian or adult companion.

You can only use the eTA for one trip (single entry). You need to apply for a new eTA every time you travel to this country. The eTA is no longer valid when you leave the country. You have to pay a Kenya ETA fee of US $34 per applicant.

As a visitor, you can only work or perform voluntary tasks in Kenya if you have the necessary work permit that you can obtain through your employer or volunteer organization. If you will be remaining for a longer while than the valid time frame of your visa, make sure you renew it, or you might have to face arrest, detainment or fine before deportment.
